This One Year Qualification aims to enhance readiness and provide entry into the areas of Systems Development at NQF level 5. It prepares learners for entry into the workplace or as undergraduate study in the Systems Development areas covered, providing them with the necessary knowledge needed for further study in the fields of Information Technology and Computer Sciences at Higher Education level.
EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES

Systems Development

COMPUTER LITERACY DURATION: 3 MONTHS

Computer programming and software that companies use daily is always being updated, raising the need for newly up-skilled receptionist, clerks, administrators and personal assistance. This course is to help them stay competitive and up to date with the computer software.

1. Develop a business plan for a small business
2. Investigate the possibilities of establishing and running a small business enterprise
3. Negotiate an agreement or deal in an authentic work situation.
4. get employment as a PA, receptionist, administrator or clerk.
INTRODUCTION TO CODE DURATION: 3 MONTHS
IT
WHO’S IT FOR:
Are you interested in coding but do not have the required background to take up the higher certificate in this qualification? This is for you.
WHY:
coding is a valuable skill in our day and age with everything being digitalized. The need for web and software developers is high. This short course is aimed at giving people the introductory background they need to take up a full qualification in coding and robotics.
EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES:
1. read and understand coding language
2. compete in a coding and robotics program
3. become eligible for a coding higher certificate course.
DURATION: 5 DAYS
Radio Production Programmes: Newsroom Skills
WHO’S IT FOR:
Anyone who is starting off as a freelancer doing studio operation, short voice clips, basic editing, and short packages at a Community Radio Station.
WHY:
Sharpen newsroom freelancers and practitioners with vital skills in newsroom activities. As an introductory course, you will learn how to source and write newsworthy stories, grow as a reporter; edit for the sound bite, package a current affairs feature and news presentation.
We will cover:
- Sourcing and Writing on Deadline (Individual news story; bulletins; package)
- Location Interviews (or Telephone) Edit sound and Multitrack packaging
- News Presentation (recording the voice report, bulleting and package)
