WHO IT’S FOR:
The area of employment for sound engineers/ technologists are mostly in the area of: Recording; Mixing, Live sound, Theatre, Mastering, Television, Broadcast, Film, Video, Multimedia, Monitor Engineers; Designers, Advisors, Commercial Producers, music producers who do not have any recognised qualification/s or have received their training abroad.
WHY:
The qualification will enable the effective introduction, implementation and management of systems, processes and procedures required for the operation of sound engineering environment. The greatest need for competence at this level exists regarding the national music industry that seeks individuals who have defined and reliable knowledge and skills in sound technology.
EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES:
1. Work with others for productions.
2. Engineer sound for productions.
3. Set up, test and maintain sound equipment.
4. Plan sound productions to ensure optimal use of resources.
5. Perform DJ activities to an audience.
6. Establish and run a small business optimally.
7. Perform either Stage Audio/visual Styling Special effects technical duties for a production.
8. Manage a studio for routine operations.
STUDIO MANAGEMENT DURATION: 3 MONTHS
Studio Management
WHO’S IT FOR:
With this course you are able to operate (apply) equipment, material and tools in a way that meets health and safety, live event and technical production industry requirements. When credited, the learner`s applied competence will be to safely operate or apply equipment, material and tools according to manufacturers` recommendations and industry norms and standards.

The music industry is constantly on the lookout for competent individuals who are reliable and have robust knowledge and skills regarding sound technology. These individuals need to meet extremely high industry standards and requirements, using technology to their best advantage and delivering efficiently and effectively.
EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES:

DURATION: 3 MONTHS
Technical Production
WHO’S IT FOR:
When credited, the learner`s applied competence will be to safely operate or apply equipment, material and tools according to manufacturers` recommendations and industry norms and standards.
WHY:
The music industry is constantly on the lookout for competent individuals who are reliable and have robust knowledge and skills regarding sound technology. We’ll help you compile an electronic portfolio with your first production, namely a class project where you write and record a radio advertisement.
EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES:
1. Create and use a range of resources to effectively manage teams, sections, departments or
divisions.
2. Manage customer requirements and needs and implement action plans.
DJ TECH DURATION: 3 MONTHS
DJ Tech
WHO’S IT FOR:
Are you thinking of becoming the next sensation in the SA dj’ing scene? Then this course is definitely for you. We will take you through the whole process of setting up you rig to flawlessly mixing hit after hit.

3. Mix sound in a monitored environment.
4. Perform DJ mix for an audience.
5. Negotiate an agreement or deal in an authentic work situation.
6. Operate (apply) equipment, material and tools.

Pre-requisites:
- Delegates must have experience in voice presentation
- Show ability of computer literacy and edit software
- Delegates should demonstrate critical listening ability, confidence to approach people with a
microphone, nose for news, awareness of journalism vocabulary
